چکیده

Abstract The zoonotic pathogen Campylobacter is the leading cause for bacterial foodborne infections in humans. Campylobacters are most commonly transmitted via consumption of undercooked poultry meat or raw milk products. decreasing costs whole genome sequencing enabled large genome-based analyses evolution and population structure this pathogen, as well development novel high-throughput molecular typing methods. Here, we review evolutionary diversity two clinically relevant species; C. jejuni coli. state-of-the-art phylogenetic studies showed clustering lineages into host specialists generalists with coexisting lifestyles chicken livestock-associated hosts, separation coli isolates riparian origin (waterfowl, water) from isolated clinical farm-related samples. We will give an overview recombination between both species potential impact horizontal gene transfer on adaptation . Additionally, briefly places current knowledge other such lari , concisus upsaliensis perspective. also provide how methods multilocus sequence (MLST) MLST have been used to detect trace outbreaks along food chain.

Comparative genomics and genome biology of invasive Campylobacter jejuni

Campylobacter jejuni is a major pathogen in bacterial gastroenteritis worldwide and can cause bacteremia in severe cases. C. jejuni is highly structured into clonal lineages of which the ST677CC lineage has been overrepresented among C. jejuni isolates derived from blood. In this study, we characterized the genomes of 31 C. jejuni blood isolates and 24 faecal isolates belonging to ST677CC in or...

Comparative genomics of yeast species: new insights into their biology

The genomes of two hemiascomycetous yeasts (Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Candida albicans) and one archiascomycete (Schizosaccharomyces pombe) have been completely sequenced and the genes have been annotated. In addition, the genomes of 13 more Hemiascomycetes have been partially sequenced. The amount of data thus obtained provides information on the evolutionary relationships between yeast spe...

Comparative Genomics of the Campylobacter lari Group

The Campylobacter lari group is a phylogenetic clade within the epsilon subdivision of the Proteobacteria and is part of the thermotolerant Campylobacter spp., a division within the genus that includes the human pathogen Campylobacter jejuni. The C. lari group is currently composed of five species (C. lari, Campylobacter insulaenigrae, Campylobacter volucris, Campylobacter subantarcticus, and C...

Comparative population genomics of three related Populus species

2 5 A central aim of evolutionary genomics is to identify the relative roles that various 2 6 evolutionary forces have played in generating and shaping genetic variation within 2 7 and among species. Here we used whole-genome re-sequencing data from three 2 8 related Populus species to characterize and compare genome-wide patterns of 2 9 nucleotide polymorphism, site frequency spectrum, populat...
